THERE seems to be a general impression that Coate and Badbury Wick have been saved from development now that the University of Bath has backed out of the Swindon Gateway Consortium proposals.
Unfortunately, this is not the case.
Redrow Homes and Persimmon Homes are busy sweet-talking other universities offering them the campus land next to Coate Water nature reserve.
We doubt that these universities are being told that more than 30,000 people have signed a petition to "Save Coate" nor why the area is so special and in need of protection.
The battle is not over.
