Letter from A Pollard

3:08pm Wednesday 14th May 2008

MAY I through the Adver express my appreciation to Friends of Quarry Wildlife Park for their continuous hard work in keeping this tranquil haven clean and cultivated.

Sadly no sooner had they left than graffiti vandals broke into the vandalised tennis courts adjoining Quarry Wildlife Park, spraying graffiti on the walls and throwing their empty cans of spray paint onto the quarry. (I picked up 23 cans that day).

I phoned the police to complain but was left on hold for 20 minutes so gave up.

Graffiti vandals have left gaping holes in the fence about the quarry park and I fear it is only a matter of time before a child is seriously hurt or even killed by a long dangerous drop. This is definitely a health and safety issue.

I complained about the plight of the tennis courts to the council and police but nothing has been done.

I read with interest the letter from P J Jones (SA, May 10), which prompted me to write this letter so I am very concerned about this beauty spot. I feel I can no longer leave it to fall into the hands of graffiti vandals.

In the good old days a PC Webb was often seen patrolling Old Town. We no longer appear to have a community police officer.
