IN reply to the letter from Mr Bye, (SA, May 13), he is living in the world of those who like blinkers.
We have had 10 years of Labour, and all its lies and woes, in those 10 years, the government has spent over £1,229 trillion, and what do we have to show for it? A world where the knife is master, killings by the day, a world where immigration is a word that means welcome to everyone and anybody, no matter what your lifestyle is. A world where benefits are paid out again no matter what your lifestyle is. A world of sleaze and reward for those who give the most to the party.
Does Mr Bye really think the people of Swindon want another Labour council, after the last 18 years worth of nothing.
Mr Brown said after the worst election results on record, that he would listen and act, well Mr Bye certainly doesn't know how to listen, the message is go away and don't come back. We don't want you. I'm surprised after the last few years of the Labour council he can even put his head above the water line. Was he the education officer in the council then? What was the phrase, education, education, education. Not in this town mate, it was rock bottom every time.
He could try and explain why the Armed Forces are treated so badly, where accommodation is only fit for pigs and where equipment is so bad it's a joke. I wonder if Mr Bye or even Mr Brown will go out on patrol around the airbase in Afghanistan in a Ford pick-up truck?
And when he looks up at the sky and sees the near 40-year-old planes flying over Swindon, what will he say when they come down on the town.
In the last few weeks, we have had the results for the first three months of this year, and we have the biggest number of people going bankrupt, the biggest number of small firms going bust, and the biggest number of houses being taken back by mortgage lenders.
Take your blinkers off Mr Bye, you are a spent force and one that is fast becoming a national disgrace.
