Letter from Greg Heathcliffe
DERRICK Bye tells us that a compulsory vote would boost Labour.
In truth Mr Bye, it simply would not matter whether the vote boosted Labour or Tory parties. Since both are totally committed to the EU what you are really saying is that compulsory voting will destroy democracy.
A strong statement certainly, but like everything else we in UKIP say, we can prove it.
The EU hates the democratic process because we, the electorate, keep voting the wrong way, that is against their ideas. That their ideas are both wrong and unpopular never occurs to them, of course. As Mr Mendelson put it "The democratic era in Europe is over, we now live in a post democratic society."
Given that both main parties are totally committed to the EU and the EU is committed to destroying the free choice of the people over who runs it, then it follows, as surely as day follows night, that voting for a main party is to vote against democracy.
Once again we see that the only viable alternative is to support the UKIP and leave the EU.
Those wondering why I have not, so far, mentioned the Lib Dems should take a quick look at the May 1 election results, UKIP pushed the Lib Dems into fourth and even fifth place. UKIP by popular vote, is now Swindon's third party with the Lib Dems very much struggling along at the back.
