IF films like Poltergeist, The Fog, and Sleepy Hollow fill you with fear and Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore's pottery class does not suspend your disbelief, then the latest ghost film to come out of Swindon could be the answer to your Halloween viewing dilemma.

The town's supernatural detectives, the Paranormal Site Investigators (PSI), are offering their own Ghostbusters-style film - and it's more fact than fiction.

The Haunted Swindon DVD shows the behind the scenes work of the team of scientists trying to uncover the truth behind Swindon's ghost stories.

This Halloween viewers can take a haunted tour round Old Town and Highworth without leaving the comfort of their living rooms.

PSI investigator Nicky Sewell said: "This film lets people know how the reality of paranormal investigations is different to what's shown on TV.

"We're expecting anyone with an interest in the town's haunted heritage as well as people interested in the paranormal to snap this up.

"We already had orders from people interested in paranormal investigations from America, so it's not just local people who want to find out more about Swindon's ghosts."

In the film, parapsycholgist and PSI member Dr Simon Sherwood revisits some of the places the project has used high-tech equipment to measure the temperature, magnetic fields, air pressure and other environmental fluctuations to find rational explanations to reported hauntings.

There is also a chance to see the investigators hard at work during their recent research at Sally's Café in Highworth.

During their investigations into Swindon's haunted heritage, PSI trained scientists have researched the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon fire station and the Savoy pub in a search for answers.

The DVD will delve deep into Swindon's spookiest stories including reports of six ghosts at 12Bar in Westcott Place, and a lady in brown, spotted at the Arts Centre in Devizes Road.

The Haunted Swindon DVD, priced £9.95 is available at Borders bookshop at the Orbital Shopping Centre, Co-op in Old Town and from www.hauntedswindon.com.

They want to get themselves over to Compton Bassett. Apparently there has been a medieval wandering minstrel there for years. He is said to be seen floating around playing all manner of instruments including a psaltery with a trapezoidal sound board.

I tell you what, sod ghosts, if they manage to get some film of a policeman on the beat in Swindon town centre, now THAT would be amazing and to be honest, It would have to be fake footage.

I have never liked people who take psychic powers lightly and try to make business with it... and I don't even tend to trust them...

Hi there

I'd just like to take the opportunity to correct a couple of errors in this report.

We adopt a scientific method, although most of us aren't scientists.

The 12 Bar and The Savoy aren't featured in the DVD - not sure where that came from.

Regards

Nicky

Thanks for removing my posts yesterday!

I thought that this was a thread where you could express your views on the above article.

I still think that this is load of nonsensical tripe of the most gargantuan protrusions.

I still think that your so called “High-tech” equipment is just a dated camcorder and a thermometer.

I still think that your not scientists

And I still think that you can’t trust anyone with a beard!!

Please respect my opinon (“,)
