TWO Italians have appeared in court to face allegations they plotted to abduct a child from Swindon.
Sandro Accorinti, 53, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Swindon.
Speaking through an interpreter, they both gave addresses in Florence, Italy.
In court the pair were formally charged with attempted child abduction.
The case against them was brought after a police investigation into an alleged plot to abduct a 14-year-old girl from Swindon.
It is understood the two teenagers had struck up a friendship over the internet and that the Italians visited Swindon after online conversations.
Because of the language difficulties, the first hearing of the case lasted more than an hour.
During their appearance in court neither entered pleas to the charges against them.
At the end of the hearing magistrates remanded the pair in custody.
They will reappear before Swindon magistrates on May 30.
