County News...Landmark site on the market

ONE of Chippenham's best-known buildings is to be sold as part of a regeneration plan.

The Bridge Centre is up for sale as a joint lot with the Bath Road car park and has already generated interest from supermarket chain Waitrose.

The centre is currently the main base for youth and social groups in the town. Wiltshire County Council, which owns the property, will relocate them to a new building at the Middlefield site off, Hungerdown Lane.

Dick Tonge, the leader of North Wiltshire District Council, which owns the Bath Road car park, said: "It is a great opportunity to improve and revitalise this part of the town."
