Hammer attack gang to be sentenced today

A GANG convicted of the brutal hammer attack on Henry Webster are to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court today.

The group of 12 males were found guilty of plotting to beat Henry, 17, at Ridgeway School in Wroughton, in scenes compared to a Quentin Tarantino film.

Wasif Khan, 18, Amjad Qazi, 19, and two boys aged 15 and 16, who cannot be named, were convicted in February of carrying out the attack.

Three other youngsters, aged 15 and 16, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm before the first trial began.

In a separate hearing, Aqduss Rauf, 20, Bilal Yakub, 18, Roubel Meah, 20, Mahbub Ali, 19, and Kamran Khan, 24, all from Swindon, were all found guilty of a conspiracy to cause actual bodily harm.

Henry suffered three skull fractures, one of which caused brain injury and needed surgery, when he was set upon on the school's tennis court in January last year.
