PEOPLE from across Swindon are being invited to learn more about one of Brunel's greatest achievements.
A free public lecture is being given on Wednesday, May 10 about how the SS Great Britain, the world's first iron-hulled, steam-powered, ocean-going ship, made international travel a possibility for thousands during the mid-19th Century.
The talk, which is being held at the University of Bath in Swindon campus in Marlowe Avenue, is being given by Nicholas Fogg.
It ties in with the celebrations of Brunel 200, which marks the 200th anniversary since the birth of the engineer.
The lecture starts at 5.30pm and is expected to last an hour.
Admission to the lecture is free and visitors can just turn up on the evening. Free car parking is available in the West Car Park.
