YOUNGSTERS brought a splash of colour to their school holidays with a week full of arts ideas.

The University of Bath in Swindon organised a summer school with a creative week full of artistic projects at the Oakfield campus in Marlowe Avenue.

Two of the projects, A Splash Of Colour and Drawing In The Past, brought together students aged between 14 and 16 for a chance to experience something different before the new school term in September.

Drawing In The Past gave students a chance to take part in an outing to archaeological places of interest, including the Barn and Stable Galleries in Avebury.

Run by university tutors with help from undergraduate students, teens got the chance to take inspiration from some of nature's most rewarding histories.

Organiser Pauline Pratt said: "It was a real success. The whole theme was more about inspiration for the children, rather than direction. The response was very good."
