A LOCAL business owner has talked to the Adver about what it was like to host a prestigious Switch On To Swindon event earlier this year.

Danielle Mottram, centre manager for Rombourne Serviced Offices, thought that the open-plan area on the top floor of her building would be the perfect venue for the initiative's first 2018 event.

The space would soon be let out to clients and partitioned so this was the only time that the space would be open enough to host such a large event.

The event was originally scheduled for March 1 but the Beast from the East forced Danielle to postpone it for a couple of weeks.

Though a bit nervous at first, Danielle was very excited about the evening.

She said: "Rombourne had the pleasure of hosing this event to kick the year off, it was fantastic.

"It went really well, there was a nice mix of businesses, lots of networking, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, it was a great night.

"It's a shame we had to postpone it but that was definitely the right decision because I don't think anyone would have been here if we hadn't.

"Neil from Mitie talked about apprenticeships, Switch On To Swindon's Gavin Calthrop talked about the Wichelstowe and carriageworks developments and all the opportunities and changes in Swindon, it was really interesting."

Switch on to Swindon is a campaign designed to highlight the strength of Swindon as a great place to live, work, invest in and visit.
