A 14-month-old Devizes boy was flown to hospital after being hit by a vehicle being reversed by a 73-year-old man in the town.
Emergency services were called to the communal parking area to the rear of Freeman Road at about 1.50pm yesterday after the boy was hit by the vehicle.
As a result of the collision, the boy sustained a fractured skull and shoulder.
He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary by air ambulance and is expected to make a full recovery.
PC Andy Stanley, from the Tri-Force Specialist Operations, said: “Fortunately, the young boy is expected to make a full recovery and is being moved on to a ward today.
“This incident happened in a communal area, however, we would like to hear from anybody who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the collision.
"If you have not already contacted police, please do so.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Stanley at Police Headquarters on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
