SEVEN fire crews are tackling a house fire in Burbage.

No one is thought to be hurt.

A passerby saw the fire on a house in Grafton Road just before 6.50am this morning and called Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

It is thought to be on a farm house which is in the process of being renovated.

Area watch manager Ian Jeary says the fire is under control, but smoke is still billowing from the house.

Traffic is being diverted on Grafton Road around a number of fire engines.

South West Ambulance Service is also on scene and are waiting to find out if they are needed.

Fire crews have been using two large water bowsers to transport water to the house.

They are likely to be at the house for a number of hours after the fire is out to look for hotspots.

A fire service spokesman said: "Crews from Pewsey, Marlborough, Andover, Swindon, Newbury, Stratton and Swindon initially attended, supported by water carriers from Pewsey and Wilton and an incident command vehicle from Devizes.

"As of 8.45am, the property – which was under refurbishment – had suffered extensive fire damage to its roof and the first floor.

"Firefighters have used four main jets and two hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.

"The incident is now being scaled back as the fire is brought under control. A fire investigation will take place later today."
