GOLFERS in Wiltshire are being invited to enter Chippenham Rotary Club’s Golf Classic to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The day, on April 21, will be giving people to opportunity to play a challenging game of golf at the Manor House Golf Club in Castle Combe. As well as a game of golf the event will be followed by a two course dinner and charity auction.

The twenty plus auction prizes include a helicopter flight around Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, three-course meal for two with champagne at the Savoy Hotel in London and a top of the range Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Rick Squires, organiser of the event on behalf of the Rotary Club, said: “This is a great opportunity to play a round of golf with friends, colleagues, or to entertain some corporate guests.

"The £60 per person fee for all of the above is considerably cheaper than the usual cost of playing at this splendid course.

"It promises to be a fantastic day of golf and, at the same time, we aim to make a worthwhile contribution to an important local charity.”

The air ambulance can scramble in just two minutes and reach anywhere in Wiltshire within nine minutes.

The speed of the helicopter, along with the skill of the crew, can, and frequently does, make the difference between life and death. However they receive no central government support and it costs over £3.2 million a year to operate.

Kenresa Stratford, fundraising coordinator at WAA, said: “We’re so grateful for the support of the Rotary Club of Chippenham through their 2016 Rotary Golf Classic and we are looking forward to the event.

"This is the first time we have been supported by the Rotary Club of Chippenham with a golfing event and we’re really pleased to be working alongside them.”

The entry fee includes a bacon roll and coffee on arrival, use of the driving range and a buggy, plus a two course dinner and charity auction.

The closing date for entries is April 14, to enter contact Bob Nation on 01249 463789.
