A 54-year-old man from Calne is in custody today after he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The man, who was driving a Renault Clio, collided with a stationary vehicle in Portal Road, Melksham, at about 6.25am on Wednesday.
He then drove off and collided with a lamp post near to the Water Meadow Pub before coming to a standstill in Cranesbill Road.
A roadside breath test was carried out and the man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
He was taken to Melksham Police Station and held.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "Drink-driving is unacceptable and is simply not worth the risk.
"We cannot stress enough the importance of not drinking before getting behind the wheel. Plan your journey ahead if you are planning on drinking alcohol."
