THE woman who died after being struck by a car as she was walking on the pavement near Savernake Hospital in Marlborough has been named.

Jane Thompson, 54, from the Redhouse area of Swindon died at the scene on Thursday.

Her family has decided not to release a tribute or photograph, say police, as Jane was a very private person and would not have liked any press attention.

Wiltshire Police are still investigating the collision and are asking for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened at 5.30pm on the A4; two cars (blue BMW 328 and yellow Seat Leon Cupra) were travelling towards Froxfield when the BMW left the carriageway and collided with Ms Thompson.

Two men, a 24-year-old and a 27-year-old both from the Marlborough area, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. They remain on conditional bail.
