PLEADING guilty to assaulting three people and sending an offensive message, a man has been ordered to tackle his alcohol addiction with the help of the probation service.

Neil Silk, of The Croft, Broad Hinton, pleaded guilty to the four offences when he came before magistrates sitting in Swindon.

The bench imposed a community order on the 42-year-old during which he must complete an alcohol dependency treatment programme.

He must also pay an £85 victim surcharge, but was not ordered to pay any costs towards the Crown Prosecution Service.

A man who assaulted a woman and damaging some of her property has been given a conditional discharge despite the offences breaching an earlier conditional discharge.

Jukai McGlynn, of Sherston Avenue, pleaded guilty to the offences of assault and causing damage to a light fitting, a partition wall, a vase and a picture frame when he came before Swindon magistrates.

McGlynn, 19, admitted that this put him in breach of a 12-month conditional discharge imposed by South East Hampshire Magistrates’ Court on August 20 of last year.

But despite this the magistrates imposed a new conditional discharge for 18 months and ordered he pay a £20 victim surcharge.

A man will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court next week to be sentenced for damaging a woman’s property and resisting arrest.

Gary Roberts, 26, of Oaksey Road, pleaded guilty to the two offences dating from June 16 during an earlier hearing at court.

After hearing he had damaged a table and door to the value of £60 and then resisted police officers the magistrates adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on him. In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail until his next hearing on July 27 at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

Discovering cannabis on Linval Nicholson, police arrested a man and brought him before the courts to answer the charge. The 24-year-old, of Ripon Way, Park South, pleaded guilty to the offence dating from January 25 when he was found with 0.8grams of cannabis on him.

The magistrates fined him £80 and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £20 along with Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85. The bench also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.

A man from Swindon and two others who are accused of being involved in selling hard drugs have all been released on bail by a judge.

Sadeq Ali, Henry Waigo and Peter Mascarenhas are said to have been involved in the trade of cocaine in the six months up to January this year.

At Swindon Crown Court Ali, 31, of Dowling Street, and Waigo, 33, denied possessing the drug with intent to supply on Wednesday, July 8, last year. 
Waigo, of Bromley, Kent, denied possessing criminal property in the form of cash on the same day.

Mascarenhas, 30, of Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, denied being concerned in the supply of cocaine and converting criminal property.
Judge Peter Blair QC adjourned the case to Monday, March 6, 2017.

A heroin addict has pleaded guilty to stealing a Rhianna box set from Bodycare.

Magistrates heard that Garry Bourne, 38, of Wolsely Avenue, stole the item in order to sell it to buy drugs on May 16.

A heroin addict for the past 18 years, Bourne was ordered to pay Bodycare the £24.99 cost of the box set.

Magistrates commended his efforts to get off heroin and stressed that they never want to see him in the dock again.
