THE Wiltshire village of Lover now has 8,000 limited edition iconic Valentine's Day cards on sale.

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day on February 15 anyone can place an order for a card to be sent from this famous village complete with a message and the special stamp on the envelope that marks the card as ‘sent from Lover’, near Salisbury.

Four designs are available at lover.org.uk, including the iconic village sign, a card designed by the children of the Lover and Redlynch Pre-school and two pop-up gift cards.

From February 1 a pop-up post office will open in the heart of the village to encourage further orders to be received and volunteer ‘village cupids’ will be working hard to prepare the cards to be posted in time for Valentine’s Day. International orders close on February 5 and UK orders on the February 8.

The campaign is taking place in "the most romantic village in the world" to help people send declarations of love this Valentine’s Day.

Once a thriving, bustling village with a village shop, pub and primary school, it is now a village determined to prove it can thrive in modern times. In less than two months, the villagers raised £85,000 to purchase the Old School building lying vacant at the heart of the village.

Donations from this year’s card will go towards the renovating the building and transforming it into a community asset.

The Lover Post is just one of many fundraising initiatives the village has embarked upon during this ‘Year of Love’.

Lover merchandise is now on sale at lover.org.uk and the community has organised a ‘Run Your Heart Out’ 5K for February 12 which starts and finishes on the Lover Green.

"The Lover Post has given us the opportunity to truly become "the most romantic village in the world" and create a legacy for future generations to come," said Nick Gibbs, who chairs the Lover Community Trust.

"If you want to show someone how much you love them, then why not send them one of our cards and help support village life whilst doing so.

"We hope thousands of people enjoy this heart-warming service."
