A NUMBER of incendiary devices dating back to the Second World War which were discovered in Wingfield Road by builders earlier today have been destroyed.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team had planned to carry out the controlled explosion at around 8.30pm but it was delayed as far more devices were found than first thought.

At around 12.30am, the controlled explosion of glass bottles containing explosive liquid and grenades took place in a skip, after all of the devices had been excavated from the ground.

The fire service is now waiting for the vapour to burn off and Wingfield Road is expected to be back to normal before rush hour this morning.

Thanks to John Kelly, Andy Fox and Trowbridge Fire Station for videos.
