ROYAL Mail has dismissed rumours that the Marlborough sorting office will be moved to Swindon after reports emerged about plans to shut down the service.

A spokesman for the Royal Mail said: “I can confirm Royal Mail has no plans to relocate Marlborough delivery office – it’s business as usual there for customers in Marlborough.”

The sorting office operates from Back Lane in Marlborough and is open from 6am to 1pm on weekdays and 6am to 12pm on Saturdays for missed package collections.

It was feared that the closure would mean an 11-mile trek to Swindon to retrieve missed packages for Marlborough residents, but the Royal Mail dismissed the rumours and stated that any future changes would be announced to its staff and residents.
