THERE were over 11,000 violent assaults on the police last year.

Letter from Nicholas E Gough

1:55pm Wednesday 20th August 2008

SIMON Cox has targeted 25 individual goals this season for Swindon Town. He has also condemned ‘lazy critics’ for proclaiming Town as candidates for relegation. I should think so too.

THERE is a tremendous amount of cancer treatment publicity about.

Letter from Mike Spry

I DO agree with Peter Love (SA, August 9); some letters that we read in the letter pages have little basis in truth. It is a bit nauseating to read lots of hype and emotion with little, or no, grounding in fact. Can’t people just do a little research before putting pen to paper?

Letter from Bev Freeman

10:48am Friday 15th August 2008

STARTING school after the summer holidays is a busy time but it can be a worrying time for children with Type 1 diabetes and their parents. Children with Type 1 diabetes can live full and active lives at school but starting school or changing teachers can sometimes be difficult. It may be the first time parents have entrusted their children to someone else’s care for such a large part of the day. It may also be the first time a teacher has had a child with diabetes in their class and so it is a new beginning for both parents and teachers. Moving to secondary school is another challenge as children have to become more independent and more teachers need to be aware of their diabetes.
