FUNDRAISERS will attempt to putt their way to victory at a charity golf tournament in support of Prospect Hospice next month.

Barclays Bank in Old Town will hold a friendly competition at Cirencester Golf Club on Friday, June 20 and hopes to collect more than £4,000 towards end-of-life care at the Wroughton charity.

The tournament involves 23 teams competing against each other in an event that raised £3,000 in 2013.

This year, the Barclays team decided to support a local charity.

“We wanted to do something for a local Swindon charity and everyone has been touched by Prospect Hospice in some way,” said Becky Grice, relationship support manager at Barclays.

Although the event is now full, organisers are still hoping to receive donations and tournament prizes and attract new sponsors.

Gareth Adams, business manager, added: “Last year we raised £1,500 and Barclays matched it. This year we hope to raise £2,000 and Barclays would match it so it would make £4,000.

“Many people don’t play golf but it’s nice of them to come out and support Prospect.”
