BARRY Corr will be packed off to a series of back experts to try and unlock the mystery of his nagging problem as Paul Sturrock tells his enthusiastic forward to stop running about'.

The 22-year-old is not 100 per cent fit and Town want to know exactly why. At the same time, Corr will grin and bear the pain until the end of the campaign.

The Town boss said: "Barry's had a problem with his back for quite a long time now. We're trying to get to the bottom of it.

"We've got certain specialists we're going to see over the next couple of weeks but at the same time he's going to try and get through to the end of the season.

"He has had serious problems with his back as far as a stress fracture of the spine but that's all mended now. He just picked this problem up in that first reserve game he played for us and he just can't get rid of it."

That means juggling 90 minutes of work with plenty of rest over the next month.

Sturrock said: "He's struggling again now.

"It looks to me as though he's just going to play and not train.

"To be fair he just needs to stop running about, just get himself up through the middle and make sure he's a target man. If he does that, he wouldn't have a problem but he has this idea that he's got to be on the move all the time. It's not his game.

"In the first half against Rochdale he must have won 90 per cent of his headers and took us beyond their back four and definitely influenced the game early on.

"Barry's had all the chances. He's getting in the right areas and I'm very pleased with him as he's done a fantastic job since he's got here. It's a strange thing to say but just stop running about.

"All I need him to do is to put himself on the opposite centre half and give us an option. Lukas Jutkiewicz is a linkage striker, good at taking touches and bringing people into a game. He should be fetching and carrying. Barry should be the one that basically puts the icing on the cake as far as goals are concerned."

Corr himself is annoyed that something he thought he'd seen the back off, no pun intended, has returned to nag him.

He said: "I had a few painkillers to get through Rochdale and I'm sure I'll feel it but to be fair it seems to be loosening off quicker. After the Lincoln game it took five or six days.

"I had a back injury about a year ago but for the last six months I've not really had a problem with it. since I've come here, it's a bit of bad luck and been causing me a few problems. But hopefully it'll get better and I can start training again."

So is Corr doing too much work on the pitch during games as his manager suggests?

Perhaps, but only through a desire to make an impact.

He said: "The gaffer wants me to play a certain way. I was getting a bit frustrated in the second half against Rochdale.

"The game wasn't really going as we wanted it to and maybe I was chasing a few things I shouldn't have been. It was just a bit too much enthusiasm but I listen to what the gaffer's saying and will try and take it into the next game."
