LUKAS Jutkiewicz's massive' contribution to Swindon Town Football Club should not be underestimated when the dust eventually settles on a dramatic campaign, says Paul Sturrock.

The 18-year-old came off the bench yesterday to fire an 83rd minute winner against rock-bottom Torquay United at the County Ground.

Town's 2-1 victory over the Gulls left them with a six point advantage over fourth-placed MK Dons with just four games remaining.

Still, you won't find Sturrock boasting that the job is almost done, far from it.

But he has nothing but praise for the Premiership-bound striker who helped bring the dream a little closer.

He said: "It was a great finish from Lukas. He's got so much to learn but I'm sure he'll be an exceptional player in the future.

"He gets in the right areas and nothing fazes him.

"In the end, you take his contribution since the Lincoln game.

"He has contributed massively, financially (being sold to Everton) and football-wise to this football club."

As for the promotion race, Sturrock is hoping the next four matches will not shred the nerves like yesterday's encounter did.

He joked: "I couldn't go through another four of them.

"I hope we get another couple of results that finishes it all off. But we've a long way to go yet, a long way.

"It's in our hands now, I think it's a six point lead with a goal difference of six.

"I would hate to think it goes down to the last game now."

Beautiful, flowing football was not on offer over the Easter period but then the manager is not looking to hand out marks for artistic impression with the League Two finishing line so close.

He said: "Results are what it's all about.

"To hell with performances at this minute in time.

"I couldn't care less whether we were hopeless, useless or good.

"The most important thing is the three points.

"Let's be nice and pretty in a higher league."

Sturrock will now give his jaded troops a couple of days rest, although with Jack Smith suspended for the next two games, he will use Wednesday's reserve game against Swansea City to mull over which member of his squad is best-placed to step in.

Ricky Shakes, Patrick Noubissie and Claude Gnapka could all step up to the plate.

Central defender Jerel Ifil now comes back into contention for Saturday's trip to Bury having completed his two-match ban.
