AN inaugural baby fair exceeded all expectations by attracting more than 1,000 visitors.
The Swindon Baby Fair, held over the past two days at Steam Museum, was organised by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and The Real Nappy Network.
During the event, children were read tales by storyteller Neil Griffiths.
Parents were given the chance to witness the differences one family can make to the environment by choosing real nappies instead of disposables.
Event organiser Paul Biggs said he hoped to hold the event annually because of this year’s success.
He said: “We will definitely be bringing this back each year, maybe even twice a year – it was a huge success. Real Nappies save families about £1,200 from birth to toilet training, save the planet from dangerous methane gas released after landfilling and often end up helping children to toilet train six months earlier.”
Midwives from Great Western Hospital, breast feeding specialists and natural childbirth instructors also passed on advice at the show.
