Charities Benefit From The Swindon Half Marathon

| Runners from last year's half marathon |
THE organisers of the Swindon Half Marathon are calling for charities who would like to benefit from this year's event to come forward.
The deadline for charities to register an interest in being linked to the race is May 16, so hurry if you want to sign up.
Race organiser Helen Maine said: "This year we are inviting registered charities - local and national - whose work benefits the community in Swindon and the surrounding area, to become an associated charity.
"This will enable them to use the event to not only raise their profile but also raise much-needed sponsorship money."
Register your interest by calling Helen Maine or Cathy Caulfield on 01793 511033 or email them atswindonhalfmarathon@swindon.gov.uk.
The Nationwide Swindon Half Marathon 2008 is being run on October 12 this year and registration for the 13-mile event is now open. In addition to the 13-mile run, there will be a five-mile multi-terrain run as well as a two-mile fun run for all ages.
Runners can enter by visiting www.swindonhalf marathon.co.uk or by calling 01793 511033. Alternatively, entry details and registration information can be obtained by emailing swindon halfmarathon@swindon.gov.uk.
n If you are taking part in the half marathon or any of the fun runs we would like to hear your story. Call 01793 501807 or e-mail amansell@swindon advertiser.co.uk.
