HELLENIC LEAGUE: Fisher demands more from Highworth strikers
JOHN Fisher wants his front players to make the most of their chances as he looks to ease Highworth’s relegation worries.
While the boss is more than happy with the strikers at his disposal, he says missed opportunities are resulting in great pressure on the defence.
Highworth have not won in the Hellenic Premier since late August and face a tough task to reverse that trend when they host Ardley tomorrow, but buoyed by the 3-1 midweek Floodlit Cup victory over Thame, Fisher believes his front man have a key role to play in the relegation fight.
He said: “Witney are quite high in the table so it will be a test, but with the lads we’ve got going forward now - Brad (Clark), TJ (Bohane) and Max (Aaron Maximen) - they are dangerous.
“We’ve just got to learn to kill sides off. We heap so much pressure on our back four and if they took more of their chances then that wouldn’t happen.
“We must have created seven or eight chances against Thame and if you take those then we’ve won the game comfortably.
“We went 2-0 up but it should have been four or five before they scored themselves.
“TJ (Bohane) made a difference for us and it meant we carried more of a threat.”
Wootton Bassett make the trip to Carterton in Division One West tomorrow and James Domm will be in goal as long as his partner hasn’t gone into labour.
Matty Bennett and Adam Corcoran are available again after missing out last time.
“Carterton have slipped a little bit but they are a good young.side,” said Bassett boss Dave Turner.
“We’ll treat them with respect, the minute you start taking your eye off the ball, you get beat.
“We’ve just got to keep our run of form going.”
