TOWN v VILLA: Williams back on the bench for cup clash
6:00am Tuesday 30th October 2012 in Sport
BACK: Andy Williams is over his injury
ANDY Williams could return to the Swindon Town squad for the visit of Aston Villa tonight, but he will definitely not be starting the Capital One Cup fourth-round clash.
Williams picked up a calf problem in the 1-0 win at Bury at the beginning of the month which has kept him out of Town’s last four matches.
However, he could be included in manager Paolo Di Canio’s substitutes this evening.
Di Canio told the Advertiser: “We have to be careful because only yesterday and today he moved around the field.
“I remained with him just to practice some movement to understand if he feels okay and the answer was more than positive.
“Tomorrow, if he comes he will come on the bench. But to give him the chance to try this atmosphere after being out for four weeks, with a stadium full of passion, is also a lift for him.
“That is the only one for tomorrow that is sure in my head - he can’t start.”

.
If he is unused today, comes on against Macclesfield to be ready for Sheff U that would do for me!
.
RDV up top with Collins with Benson and Storey as the bench options for me
.
Same goes for Thompson if he is back as reported last night

Think they've had 7 draws and won 7 of their other 8 wins 1-0 so guess we all know how Wilson has set them up to play.
Will need an early goal to open them up, then see how good they are.

Watched Sheffield Utd last night on Sky against Pompey, didn't look anything special, won the game on a penalty which they hardly deserved, just down to a poor tackle on the edge of area with their guy going nowhere to cause a problem.

Like you Old Town - I watched Sheff Utd and thought they looked pretty ordinary - well organised most of the time but their defence was opened up quite a few times by a non-prolific Pompey attack.
...
Good early goal and we'll be ok against them - not forgetting they can't sign anyone either and have their best players out injured / recalled to parent club.

All eyes on tonight now!! Can't wait and only 10 hours to go!!

As to Wilson's management style, and trust me I'd rather have Paolo any day, you can't argue with the fact that they're unbeaten so far, be it by narrow 1-0 margins - a win's a win and didn't a certain team win loads of games 1-0 68/69 largely courtesy of a Mr P Noble?
By all means be loyal but also be fair eh?

Would love to see Miles do another 60 minutes tonight before bringing AW on to replace him.

Ground out 1-0 victories form the foundation of title wins. Good sides don't play well every week or win big every week, but they have a knack of getting wins when they're not playing well. Poor sides don't get hammered every week either. In Wilson's last season here I remember being told that we couldn't be that bad, because we often lost by only one goal. A good goal difference is a nice bonus but a win is a win and a defeat is a defeat. I'm expecting a hard fought game with Wilson's boys, without many goals.
