TEENAGE star Miles Storey was not sure whether to feel delighted or guilty after being put on standby for England Under 19s yesterday afternoon.

The striker is on call for the Young Lions’ clash with Finland on November 13 after attracting the attention of manager Noel Blake with his two goals in Town’s dramatic 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

But Storey believes his headline grabbing goals against Villa and Stevenage have seen him jump ahead of players with more experience of league football, and was left feeling guilty after receiving the news.

“It is great news to get a bit of recognition really for how things have been going, but in a way I feel guilty because a lot of players have played a lot of games, and I have just come about after scoring in two matches,”

he said. “I do feel guilty a bit, but it is an exciting thing to happen and it is great recognition for the last couple of games.

“I heard rumours there were some coaches here like Stuart Pearce, but I wasn’t expecting anything like this.

“Scoring the goals against Villa was good enough for me, but to get a call is great, even though it is just for stand-by at the moment.”

The call-up is the West Midlands born youngster’s first taste of international football, but the level-headed forward will not allow himself to get carried away.

“I played county and district football, but obviously that is a completely different thing to international football,”

he said.

“I played against Nathan Redmond when I was atWolves, but I don’t know any of the players really, although I know the names a bit.

“But I am not going to get carried away with this because I need to improve a lot still, and that is what I am trying to do now.”

Storey got a close look at one of his international heroes, Darren Bent, on Tuesday evening, and would love to follow in his footsteps and play for the full national team.

“I love watching Darren Bent because he is one of my heroes as well as Rooney,” he said.

“I can learn a lot from players like that, and if you saw Agbonlahor’s goal against us you can see how well he used his pace.

“He is rapid, and if I can use my pace like that and move like Darren Bent I will be happy.”
