THE VIC MORGAN COLUMN: Paolo’s side doesn’t bend, it doesn’t buckle, it fights
6:00am Thursday 1st November 2012 in Sport
What’s not to like about Tuesday night? A packed house, wonderful atmosphere and THAT feeling when Miles Storey slid in the equaliser in a moment of sheer invention. On Saturday we'd seen a performance of genuine class at Stevenage with moments of true footballing pleasure.
It was the most enjoyable 90 minutes I’d witnessed this season. An afternoon of total domination. Tuesday was almost as good.
A League One team genuinely not scared to have a go at a side from the Premier League.
Like many, the half-time interval was one of a little trepidation. Villa had got a two-goal lead and were beginning to look very comfortable.
But we now have a football club that doesn’t bend, it doesn’t buckle, it fights.
That’s what made Tuesday so great.
Every Town player gave 100 per cent and performed brilliantly for OUR team.
And then there’s Miles Storey.
PDC is, of course, right when he says the youngster isn’t the complete player.
Under Di Canio though Miles has a chance to learn from one of the greats of the Premier League era and, for someone making his way in the game, that must be fantastic. Okay we lost, but not one Swindon fan walking away from that match would have been dispirited.
Only optimistic for whats to come this season.
Maybe this week has been the turning point. Remember it was about this time last year we demolished Huddersfield in the FA Cup with a blistering display.
Maybe we’re just hitting our straps and the campaign can really get going.
A word also about Paul Bodin.
Nathan Thompson and Storey have both made their mark this season and we’ve seen Leigh Bedwell perform well under strange circumstances at Preston.
Three players from the youth set up. Good job Zippy.
So if you’re feeling a bit gloomy at all in this first week of winter just remember THAT moment when the equaliser went in against Villa. I guarantee you’ll feel better. Oh and don’t forget there’s another cup game at the County Ground on Saturday.

I was still jumping with joy after our second goal for ages, pure class from miles. Never seen the Townend erupt since the kenny Stroud goal against Everton.
Hope we produce that special moment against Wilsons mob, and shut that utter muppet up.
Onwards and upwards
