Nell's home hope
SKIPPER Aaron Nell knows his side need to start performing at the Link Centre if they are to force their way up the English Premier League table.
Wildcats are without a home win since October 6 and have only registered two successes on their own rink all season, and currently lie second bottom of the table.
One of those victories was against rock bottom Telford, and as the Cats prepare to welcome the Tigers to their home once again, the captain has issued a rallying call.
“It is simple, we need to do better in our home matches,” he said.
“We have had some pretty good road games and we just need to start doing that at home, and it needs to change.
“We have always been a team who are good at home, but now it is the opposite, and now we need to pick it up.
“I am not sure what it is, whether we are too confident or not confident enough, but we need to be a team that works hard every night.
“If we can do that we can be a good hockey team, but maybe we have a more defensive mindset away from home.”
Nothing less than a victory over the Tigers will do for Nell, but he and the rest of the locker room remain confident in their ability.
“Saturday is a must-win, and I believe we will and everyone believes we will,” he said.
“Every game is important, and we will continue to work hard.
“The dressing room are all confident, but we have put ourselves in a little bit of a hole and we need to work to get ourselves out of it.
“But everyone believes we will, and that is the main thing.”
