PAOLO Di Canio has another midfield option at his disposal after Swindon Town completed the loan signing of Charlton’s Danny Hollands this morning.

The 27-year-old all-but finalised a deal that will see him remain at the County Ground until January 5 last night, with the formalities completed today.

Hollands is a former Chelsea youth and reserve team captain but never featured for the first team.

Instead he spent a brief spell on loan at Torquay and helped them secure their League Two survival in 2005/06, before completing a move to Bournemouth.

He stayed with the Cherries for five years during which he made more than 200 appearances, until switching to Charlton on a three-year contract in May 2011.

Hollands was instrumental in the Addicks’ League One title success last season and despite having made 14 appearances in the Championship this term, he has fallen out of favour of late.

Should the deal be completed today, Hollands is expected to go straight into the Town squad for Saturday’s home game against Yeovil.

Meanwhile, in Division One South & West last night, Cirencester lost 3-2 to Clevedon.
