MALMESBURY boss Simon Winstone says his side are in a no lose situation ahead of their clash with Brimscombe & Thrupp at the Flying Monk.

The Vics secured their first point of the Division One West campaign in the 2-2 draw at Letcombe on Saturday and now face the league leaders tomorrow.

And while Winstone admits that his team will not be fancied to record their maiden victory of 2012/13 against the high-flyers, he says that actually helps their cause.

“There weren’t be too many people who will think we’re going to win the game, so we’ve got nothing to lose,” said Winstone.

“Maybe having no pressure will work for us. As long as everyone works hard we’ll be happy with that.

“Brimscombe won 4-0 against a Premier side (Reading Town) in the cup in the week and it will be a tough game, but we’ve got to play them sooner or later.

“We’ve got to make it hard for them and work hard. You have to go out with the belief you can win the game otherwise what’s the point in playing?

“We’ve had games this year where we’ve played well and got nothing, but as long as we give a good account of ourselves, that’s all that matters.”

Malmesbury will be without Max Sparrow and Richard Gee and Winstone added: “We’re a bit short, which isn’t going to be to helpful, but we’ll pull some up from the reserves.

“Some of the reserve players have done well before so there’s no reason why they can’t again.”

Elsewhere in the division, lowly New College take on fifth-placed Hook Norton at the Webb’s Wood Stadium, while Fairford clash with Lydney.

Purton make the trip to Clanfield as they look for their fifth league win of the season.
