SWINDON TOWN: Williams set for two weeks out
4:00pm Monday 19th November 2012 in Sport
Andy Williams will be out of action for at least two weeks
ANDY Williams will be out of action for at least two weeks with a knee injury, manager Paolo Di Canio revealed this afternoon.
The striker hobbled off just before half-time during the 4-1 victory over Yeovil on Saturday after a collision with Glovers goalkeeper Marek Stech and will undergo a scan later today in a bid to discover the extent of the damage.
However, Di Canio said his frontman will be absent for a fortnight, whatever the results, but the Swindon boss reported no new problems ahead of the visit of Brentford tomorrow.
“This afternoon he is going to have a scan and we will see what damage he has got. I hope it is the minimum, but even if there is nothing big it is a minimum of two weeks he has to rest," he said.
“The rest of the lads are okay so we’re happy. We’re not happy every time someone goes out with a problem but all the rest of the lads are okay.
“Tommy Miller and we know now Andy Williams are out. The others are ready for the game."

Would like to see Storey restored to the bench following this and for him to offer the fast forward option later on
.
Rooney should be there for if Collins is not performing as they are more like for like

Storey not fit yet either.....so again an impact sub is best for him.

He could easily come in and play without getting injured - all it would mean is he might start to flag in the 2nd half until he gets up to our level
.
Which is fine - let him do his business for 50-60 mins and then bring Storey on to frighten a tired defence with his pace

Hope Rooney proves me wrong but seen nothing to convince me yet. As for Willo, shame but will only be 2 games as we have 2 week break after sat, so hopefully he will be fighting fit come Doncaster
Given that Martin hasn't had much game time I could see him going with Rooney and Collins to start - purely as they're both match fit....yep and I do know they're too similar but do you want to chance Martin getting an injury because he's starting too soon?...I'd like to see him play regularly from mid Dec once fit.

Granted he will be lacking match sharpness - which is what I put the shot he dragged wide down to after smart turn - but the only way he will get that is by playing
.
Same XI bar Martin in for Williams for me - no need to change it

Options then on the bench of Hollands RDV Storey and Rooney - with defensive cover from Troy and Thompson if required

Roberts will start hopefully.
Nothing against RDV but an out and out winger he is not.
Last 2 games Roberts is starting to impress. More to come for sure.

We are coming towards the start of the heavy pitches, so it's encouraging to know we are getting nearer to a full squad to cover for the inevitable injuries.

The guy is a PREMIERSHIP footballer - even if he has not been playing he should still have enough fitness from training to play most of a game if not all of it in L1

Also hope Bostock keeps his place and Danny Holland is kept in reserve, it sounds like Navarro is available, but quite honestly would prefer it if he takes a little bit longer to recover, as present encumbrants are doing fine.

Wes
Macca Devera Ward McEveley
Ritchie Ferry Bostock Roberts
Storey Collins
Subs
Martin for Storey
Hollands for Bostock
RDV for Roberts
I'd like to have Storey's pace on from the start to give that something different, but it could well be Martin starts, Storey comes on. Either way would work.
To split up the excellent Devera and Ward would be foolish, so Macca will prob stay at rb. Shame for Nathan.
Question is when does Ferry get a rest - Paolo has said he is concerned about flogging him to death - but we don't have that type of player to do all the running so would be a big loss if he didn't start.
