LES Gill has underlined the importance of togetherness as Shrivenham bid to pull themselves away from the Hellenic Premier drop zone.

The Rec boss is still looking for his first league win since taking over at the end of October and the task does not get any easier tomorrow as Shrivvy travel to second-placed Slimbridge.

Ahead of the trip, Gill has laid out his ‘philosophy of team spirit’ and backed his players to produce over the course of the season.

“The players know their jobs and they know how good they are,” he said.

“From my point of view the most important thing ist hat we play as a team as supposed to having worldly individuals.

“We’re all in it together and we’re building a side together. My philosophy has always been team spirit.

“We never sit back and shut up shop, we go out there with every intention of winning the game in front of us.

“There’s no reason why we can’t do that, I have every confidence in the players’ ability.”

Gill is missing Warren Fuller due to work commitments and the banned Scott Scanlon this weekend, but Lewis Sopp is available again.

Meanwhile, John Fisher is expecting Thame to try and pass their way through his Highworth team’s defence when the teams meet at the ASM Stadium tomorrow.

Thame’s pitch and surrounding facilities are widely regarded as the best in the Hellenic League and boss Fisher’s opinion is no different.

And he believes having that smooth surface available to them has bred a passing style of football that United have maintained.

“It’s the best pitch in the league, it’s absolutely superb. Everything about the place is first-class.

“Thame play quite good football, mind you, with that pitch you wouldn’t expect anything else.

“They always hang around halfway in the league, they never push to win it but they never have to worry about going down.

“We beat them in the Floodlit Cup but you don’t know if that was their first-choice 11 or not. It will be a stern test.

Darren Smart looks likely to miss out with a hamstring problem tomorrow but Brad Clark (knee) and Elliott Knight (calf) could return after being sidelined for the 2-2 draw with Reading in midweek.

In Division One West, Wootton Bassett boss Dave Turner is able to welcome back Shaun Terry from suspension as well as Tom Dingle, ahead of the clash with Lydney.

Skipper Steve Yeardley is unavailable but Ritchie Saunders is an obvious like-for-like replacement.

Elsewhere, Fairford travel to Cricklade knowing they could jump as high as third if they win and other results go their way.
