THREE fighters from the Swindon Martial Arts Centre travelled to Sicily to represent England at the WMKF World Championships recently.

Jason O’Grady, Katie Cox and Tom Banks flew out to Trapani to compete and each managed to make their way to the final of their respective weight categories.

Cox, competing internationally for the first time, enjoyed victory in the -60kg kickboxing section over her opponent from Malta.

Banks quickly saw off his tough Italian opponent inside the allocated two two-minute rounds to show why he is considered one of the best up-and-coming fighters in England before O’Grady claimed the K1 title with a stylish display.

Cox was soon back in action, narrowly losing the -60kg point fighting final, while O’Grady and Banks both emerged victorious from their point fighting finals to be selected for the full England side in the team competition.

And the pair enjoyed further success when England saw off competition from England B and Mexico to become overall champions.
