ABBEY Meads put a spate of injuries and absentees to one side to battle to a 28-11 victory over Thames A.

They needed the help of both Liz Cuff and Jacqui Mellows who were drafted in to help, and the pair put in solid performances at goalkeeper and goal attack as Abbey claimed victory.

The first half was an even affair which could have gone either way, and Abbey Meads lost another vital player as centre Susan Maggs went down with an ankle injury, but she was replaced well by Nicola Yound with good support from Lucy Roe who went on to win the player of the match award.

Shannon Hewes came on at wing attack and kept supplying Georgie Brain and Nicola Gillhespy with chances to keep the scoreboard ticking over as Abbey Meads secured victory.
