SWINDON Town’s trip to Colchester United, scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon, has been postponed.

A waterlogged pitch at the Weston Homes Community Stadium put paid to any chances of the Robins resuming their League One campaign, meaning Town have now suffered consecutive postponements after the visit to Leyton Orient on Boxing Day was called off for the same reason.

A statement on Colchester’s official website today read: “With the pitch waterlogged as of early Friday evening following substantial rainfall in the local area in the past week, and further significant rain expected during the course of Saturday, the game was called off by the official that came to visit the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

“U's manager Joe Dunne and Swindon assistant manager Fabrizio Piccareta were both in attendance as the surface was examined on Friday.

“The U's had asked for a further morning inspection, but the official that looked at the pitch on the referee's behalf opted to advise Saturday's official Mr Robinson that the game should be called off. All tickets for the fixture will be valid for the rearranged match. “
