SWINDON TOWN: Martin hopes for season's stay at Town
4:30pm Tuesday 8th January 2013 in Sport
Chris Martin would be happy to stay with Swindon Town until the end of the season
CHRIS Martin would be happy to see his loan spell at Swindon Town extended until the end of the season.
The Norwich striker signed on at the County Ground for an additional 28 days on Monday but he hopes that an agreement can be reached which will see him stay in Wiltshire for longer.
“It’s nice to get the deal done to stay here for that length of time but hopefully also longer term than that, hopefully for the rest of the season if that’s possible," he said.
“I’ve got these 28 days and it’s exactly the same as before. I’m going to give it my all and see where it takes me. The team are on a very good run and it’s a good moment to be at Swindon Town.”

I think Paolo would argue that's it's the competition that keeps the shooting boots on. It's great having two hot strikers, but without someone pushing them you never know when they might cool off.

Malkym wrote:Totally agree we have to ask how many games will Adam Rooney play the rest of this season. May be Paolo kept him in case the Martin deal fell through and because of injury to Miles Storey, but I get the feeling Rooney will get very little game time. I believe we will see a better Martin in the next month.

I also think a few on here are a little bit too harsh on the lad, yes he lacks a bit of pace and shame he is not too footed, as I said in a few days ago everyone will remember him for the couple of chances he squandered, but it seems obvious to me that Paulo thinks he is worth perservering with, just as he did Marshall last season who also devided opinions, but as long as he wears the colours, we should be encouraging him, true to say he is hardly going to get a start with the form of Collins, Williams and Martin, but 3 goals from 6 starts doesn't sound too bad to me.

Managed to get 70/1 for Williams as League 1 top scorer prior to the Carlisle match - couldn't resist that one. Also did a side bet on Collins but far lower odds sadly.

Also would like to add if Storey gets fit, I can see him going out on loan to gain experience as did Bodin. Well down the pecking order and not much chance of getting more game time thi8s season.

Although he's come on a lot in his short time with us, he doesn't yet seem to be at the level of sharpness and confidence the other two have reached. The best is yet to come from him I'm sure.
Need to keep Martin - his movement and link play are pretty well spot on and he's bound to find his shooting boots soon....just needs time and one bit of luck (or lack of bad luck) and he'll be firing them in like Williams and Collins have started to.

Have to say he ran the Portsmouth defence ragged before Collins came on so really good options....he'll kick start soon I'm sure.

He is a good player and i;m glad we have him a bit longer. It wasnt that long ago he as the top scorer in L1 when Norwich won the league and you dont lose it just like that. He has been in and out of the team at Norwich and probably on a bit of a downer but all these players like the Paolo method and they cam all see something good is happenning on the pitch and he wants to be part of it otherwise its back to Norwich in the reserves.
I am confident Martin is going to be banging them in starting at Bournemouth this week.
