SOUTHERN LEAGUE: Edenborough concerns for Supermarine boss Webb

SUPERMARINE boss Dave Webb has front line concerns ahead of this weekend’s Division One South & West clash with Hungerford.

Top scorer Ash Edenborough, who has netted 14 times in the Southern League this season, looks set to miss out with a tight hamstring.

Josh Fowler is away on Wiltshire Under 18 duty while Josh Parsons is in a race against time as he attempts to recover from a gluteal muscle pull.

At the time of writing it was unclear whether Jordan Roberts would be available for Marine or whether he would play for Calne in the Western League.

Speaking on Edenborough’s injury, Webb said: “If it’s just tight then that’s OK, but if it’s torn then it’s a nightmare.

“We got him off pretty much straight away (in the abandoned fixture with Abingdon on Wednesday) so hopefully it’s not too serious.

“Losing a few players would be a real blow and I could do with Jordan Roberts being available the way things are looking.”

Webb is hoping Chris Taylor will recover from a whack on the knee he picked up on Wednesday, but Jamie Prictor (hamstring and groin) will miss out and Dan Wallington is still sidelined.

“Hungerford is a game a we look forward to because it’s a massive test,” added Webb.

“The question is whether we can do as well as the last time we played them (Marine won 1-0).

“They will be desperate to recover because they got beat by Mangotsfield on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, in the Southern Premier, veteran midfielder Iain Harvey is confident Chippenham are heading in the right direction following their recent run of form.

The Bluebirds currently sit 13th in the table and have drawn four league games in a row, but Harvey is upbeat about recent displays.

“In the last month-and-a-half, I’ve been watching a lot of it but the boys have been playing unbelievable football, dominating every side we’ve played against,” he said.

“We’d take drawing at Chesham away and Weymouth away, and obviously the draw against Frome was gutting but things even themselves out.

“We’re unbeaten in 2013 and it’s only two games but a good run’s got to start somewhere and we’ve only been beaten twice in 12, which isn’t bad.

“We just need to carry on playing the way we can. You’re not always going to play well and when you don’t you just want everyone to get together and dig in.”
