SWINDON TOWN: McEveley suffered injury scare

JAY McEveley recently endured a minor scare in his recovery from knee surgery, Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio has revealed.

McEveley, who went under the knife in Italy at the end of November, is close to a return to full fitness but felt a pain in his leg during training and was sent for a scan to determine whether or not he had sustained any further damage.

Fortunately for the full-back, and for the Robins in general, no problems were visible and McEveley has since been able to return to training.

“Last week he started to have a more intensive job in his leg and he felt a little pain near the kneecap where he had the surgery,” said Di Canio. “He was worried so we kept him quiet for two or three days and (on Wednesday) he had the scan which confirmed that there is no problem with the joint.

“The muscle behind the knee is obviously tight now because it has to support the joint. He felt a little tug. It didn’t swell, the pain went after two hours but he was a little worried.

“Just to be sure we gave him three or four days’ rest but he kept going with the swimming.

“After the scan we had the analysis and today he came and he was okay with no pain any more.

“I can understand and it was better for us to be sure and not to upset him.”
