SWINDON TOWN: Di Canio hails Town's travelling fans
6:00am Monday 14th January 2013 in Sport
PAOLO Di Canio lavished praise on the traveling Swindon Town fans at Bournemouth and urged them to stick with him and his players as the season runs its course.
Almost 1,400 Town supporters packed out the visiting section of Dean Court, and were treated to a moment of unbridled passion when Andy Williams slotted home a late equaliser to earn the Robins a point.
After the match, Di Canio was quick to thank the Swindon fans for their backing over the course of the 90 minutes.
“There was a lot of enthusiasm because it was the first away game for a few weeks after the Christmas period, so we have to thank them once again,” he said.
“Their support was amazing – compact, united, 1,400 of them and full of expectation, passion and desire. I hope they have the chance to keep going and following us because they can have a lot of satisfaction again.
“We know that there is a situation that can’t help stretch something, but together as a unit we can light the fire which is already on and hope that we can stay close there and go to the next game altogether with enough adrenaline to keep the position and see what is going on in the future.”
