DAVID Howell has given his backing to Europe's newly-elected Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
The Broome Manor pro was on a players’ committee that yesterday voted Dubliner McGinley as skipper for the event at Gleneagles next year.
“I think Paul will be a great captain,” said Howell, a winner with Europe in 2004 and 2006.
“He’s very experienced and has got a great record in the Ryder Cup.”
