MILES Storey thinks Swindon Town must put December’s 5-0 thrashing of Tranmere to the back of their minds when they visit the Wirral on Saturday.

The league leaders were ripped apart by a brutal and rampant Robins outfit four days before Christmas, as goals from Andy Williams, Matt Ritchie, Danny Hollands and Raffa De Vita sent the visitors limping back up the M6 with their tails between their legs.

Since then, however, Rovers have won each of their three home matches and continue to lead the way in League One - meaning Storey & Co have a very different prospect on their hands at Prenton Park this weekend.

The 19-year-old understands how important the match is, as it signals the start of four away days on the bounce for the Robins.

“We had a couple of games called off at Christmastime and we’ve got a lot of away games coming up. At home we’ve been on fire but away we’ve been strong as well,” he said.

“It’s a different kind of performance when you play away from home, like you saw against Bournemouth. The pitch didn’t help otherwise it would have been a great game, but it’s a different performance.

“We have to do what we did at Bournemouth and maybe nick a 1-0. We’re not going to win 5-0 away from home at Tranmere.”
