SWINDON TOWN: No Palace bid for Ritchie, says Di Canio
4:00pm Thursday 24th January 2013 in Sport By Sam Morshead
Matt Ritchie has been linked with a £500,000 approach from Crystal Palace
SWINDON Town have not received any bids for Matt Ritchie, Paolo Di Canio has confirmed.
Reports on Wednesday linked Crystal Palace with a formal approach for the winger, who still has 18 months to run on his contract with the Robins.
The Advertiser has learnt that Palace last had Ritchie scouted in December and, though they have been interested in the former Portsmouth man, they have never submitted an offer to Town.
Di Canio said as much at his press conference at the County Ground on Thursday afternoon.
“There wasnt even any official request and not even any amount of money that they are ready to spend for Ritchie," he said.
“Some news also came out about what happened last year. Some reports were £400,000, some were £500,000, that we rejected. No, last year a club came and they proposed to us nearly £1million for Ritchie.
“That is the truth. This is the only offer we have had. Last year a club came with a deal close to £1million. This year we did not receive any offers from any club."
Di Canio reiterated the fact that his squad are not for sale, and slapped a gigantic price tag on Ritchie.
“I don’t expect nothing because when my players are not for sale. Obviously if someone comes for crazy money, even Messi is for sale. Even for good money for my players’ level they are not for sale," he said.
“Matt is my player and I like him so my opinion can be totally a manager’s opinion, I don’t know, give me £20million. Is it crazy money? I’m joking obviously - £15million is okay."

Of course there was the league championship,

There was the time he gave his image rights away, for treatment at the worlds best medical facilities...

Also has a history of relegating a team after starting well. The other was simply a mistake full stop! No carisma, dull defensive football, although he insisted he was playing 4-3-3 but really playing 4-5-1 and even Rockin Robin posed more threat to the opposition.

As for now, it's the complete opposite to the above two.
Sounds like a good reason to me.....

Not sure the statement from Paolo says anything more than the man is able to show a welcome sense of humour.

Great news about Ritchie. Please let's just keep the squad together and a settled first team of which Matt would be the first to be pencilled in.

Ritchie needs to stay as he is part of the squad to make us progress. Any less than 2+ million all clubs shoul be told to get stuffed.
He likes playing for Paolo so dont think his head will be easily turned he will be with us there soon anyway so why move.

LeGod wrote:You don't start off by making a realistic bid. You start low and end up somewhere between your own "valuation" and the seller's. If there was a bidding war (now why does that ring a bell?) you might want to get a sensible bid in quickly but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I wouldn't blame them for starting with a bargain basement offer. I'm sure we'd all be celebrating if we could get a £2m player for £500k.
if they did bid 500k its an insult i believe Paolo more than any other site like sky etc..

Paolo's valuation is around 2m but the player is not for sale at the moment.
However take any offer over 13m and buy the club.

If Paolo says NO BID then I believe him. The only reason someone would offer as little as 500k ( and they havn't ) is if they thought we were going into administration ( and we arn't ) and were desperate for a bit of cash.

I believe the forcast for ooop there is wet snow turning to rain and no frost. If they get covers on everything should go well as there is a danger of localised flooding.
I'm gonna look silly if this is total boll0kcs haha.

A real team player that is totally committed to the team he is playing for, that in my book is worth £2m alone before you consider his ability.
STFC2012, can't really understand your position. You seem to be the sort of person that would complain if you found a £20 note because it wasn't a £50 note.

Love Matt Ritchie, true pro. Quiet, never hear from him, but totally committed on the pitch.
