So Swansea announce a loss of £13m in one year taking their total debt up to £83m!!

Come on then Football League rag, make a headline out of that!!

Can't hear anyone shouting about this one, yet surely this is a far greater issue than our £13m total debt which is held entirely by the owners.

This merely goes to show how well our club is actually being run, albeit the investment is to build for the future, but at least we have a reasonable chance of recouping that in a short timeframe.

Whereas, even if Cardiff do manage to reach the Prem next year they will need money to strengthen their squad so will have little or no money to reduce their debts.

Cardiff are the real cheats and have been for years chasing the Premiership payday with the view to use that to wipe it all out - next year they will get £70m just for finishing bottom before the parachute payments kick in to keep them earning more than now just via them for FOUR years!

They have been operating a wage bill at around 110% income for years an continued to do it while facing FIVE winding up petitions! (Granted we went over the limit this year for a month - but ours last year was always under the 55% limit)

This overspend included getting the likes of Ramsey and Bellemy in on loan (Bellemy apparently was on £360k a season at them) while still owing money for McCormack - who had already been sold on!!!!!

Hey, I think we're in danger of developing a bit of a victim culture here, especially listening to the conspiracy blogs last night regarding the call-off at Tranmere.

Now, say for instance, we had gone to Tranmere and were winning 2-1 and the floodlights failed. Well then I might begin to think twice.

Yeah but Portsmouth are certainly paying the price now and probably will continue to do so for years to come

Granted Cardiff are not alone and we are not guilt free - pre AF and co we were spending well beyond our means - but like Portsmouth we have paid with 13 years of lower league football!

Good comment, but effectively just highlights the lunacy of soccer finance generally. There are very few exceptions, generally speaking the higher up the leagues you go, the bigger the debt, and if you analysed it as a business, professional football is not viable.

I totally agree with you Ramsbury Red. The worse thing that ever happened to fottball was Sky tv. It made the ''top'' clubs feel like kings with over-paid, talentless players from abroad instead of buying home-grown players or bringing on their own through their academies. Wages and transfers went through the roof and the smaller clubs tried to keep up with them with was plainly stupid. We all want success but I want my club to survive.

Rockdog, I agree with every word. With less TV money English clubs might struggle again to win the Champions League, but grass roots would prosper since up and coming youngsters would be nurtured.

i live in north wales so first off the tranmere game should be investigated by the football league as it has been raining for most of the night so there is no way the pitch would have been frozen today. the local ref who called it off needs sacking. there should have been a pitch inspection at 8am this morning just like there was at the county ground last week to give every opportunity of the game going ahead. i had to book a days holiday off work for todays game so very disappointed.
The state of the club i have to say thank you to the current board who saved us although they have made a few mistakes we all do and the timing of trying to sell the club came at the wrong time but now lets get on with it get the right seller in and lets go on to win promotion. as for clubs cheating a lot of clubs do it and the reporter from the football league paper made the wrong choice trying to pick on us and that has been shown by the reaction of the fans. we are here through thick and thin from the premiership to league 2 we have all been there and will still carry on to support our team so now lets move on to tuesday and get another 3 points to win promotion and prove everyone wrong again. That very thing happened when game against Tranmere at the County Ground
in 80/90's (?) was abandoned at half time due to floodlight failure. I seem to remember us 2-0 up but was it 0-0??!!
Around the same period I travelled up for a NewsYear Day match against Grimsby Town(?) when ref abandoned it on 23mins (?) almost immediately after Kevin Watson had put us 1-0 up.
I wasn't able to reuse my ticket for either rearranged fixture due to distance to travel.

If a take over deal is formally agreed in the next week or so there will be a lot to thank SWP for. It's why he was brought in, so please stop knocking him. We do know that Phil Spencer is an expensive 'asset', although I don't doubt his commitment his pocket has been well lined at Swindon. We do know that with JW at the helm the finances were out of control which is why he was replaced.

i texted a work mate today who lives near tranmere and he says its light rain and warm, Tranmere have played the numbers and worked the weather to their advantage to remove the snow from the covers which acts as insulation was just pathetic and the head groundsman should be sacked as they all should know you leave it on as a layer to stop frost from getting into the soil. He was obviously told to do so by the powers that be.Like others have said they have injuries to key players. And the fact that so many other teams have kept games on like rotherham which had a lot more snow and many more teams in league 1 and 2 and the conference are on.

Also, the introduction of the Premier League has been the cause of the downfall of English League Football.
These days every other Bumpkin from Penzance to Aberdeen is a closet supporter of Manchester United, so they don't follow their own local team anymore.

Like others I have been doing my Tranmere homework. My eldest lad lives in Warrington, not that far away and commented he couldn't see why the game was off. I have a Town mate staying locally with his family this weekend, he is also very confused as to why the game is off, apart from their injury list which reveals all. It stinks just like Orient who played with a full squad in their following home game which took place after heavier rainfall. Bar workers !!!!!

One of the two Tranmere supporting friends lives at least 1.5 miles from the ground and he could not dispute that a freak weather pattern could have hit the ground but left him and his family on warm yet soggy ground...but wait those defending the postponement went onto mention that it would be waterlogged then!?....well again he could not dispute that a monsoon and floods from all the meltwater had nearly washed away the Tranmere pitch yet leaving nothing more but a few puddles more local to his own micro-climate!!

Simple Tranmere got players out,so Ronnie Moore pulled a fast one and got the game called off,just like Bradford got there game called off,cause there kn*ckered after beating Villa on Wednesday and wanted a rest,the Football league and FA are a bunch of Mugs.

i texted a work mate today who lives near tranmere and he says its light rain and warm, Tranmere have played the numbers and worked the weather to their advantage to remove the snow from the covers which acts as insulation was just pathetic and the head groundsman should be sacked as they all should know you leave it on as a layer to stop frost from getting into the soil. He was obviously told to do so by the powers that be.Like others have said they have injuries to key players. And the fact that so many other teams have kept games on like rotherham which had a lot more snow and many more teams in league 1 and 2 and the conference are on.

Now, a thought to draw a line under all of this in a good manner.

Perhaps the FL should consider,

If a home team cannot field the game due to weather or weather related problems and the away team can, then said game should be played at the away venue.

If neither side can field the game then a re-arranged game can be arranged.
This would prevent some teams becoming victims of fixture congestion.

This should then encourage clubs and their groundsmen to be more proactive with covers etc and looking forward to possible weather scenarios
That would surely bring an end to any conspiracy theories etc.
