NATHAN Thompson said the Swindon Town squad were disappointed that their trip to Tranmere was postponed but he stressed that their focus has quickly switched to Tuesday night’s visit to Leyton Orient.

Town’s clash with Rovers was called off at lunchtime on Friday due to a frozen pitch at Prenton Park, as the mouth-watering contest between first and fourth in League One became the only fixture in the division to be affected by the elements.

Unbeaten in two month, the Robins were buoyant in the week leading up to matchday, but instead Paolo Di Canio’s squad had to settle for an indoor training session on Saturday morning.

Thompson relayed the players’ frustration, but he stated that all eyes are now squarely turned to the game against Orient next week.

“It’s disappointing. The boys were geared up to play up there,” he said. “After the form we’re in at the moment in time I felt we could have gone up there and got the three points. It’s disappointing but we’ll just gear up and go again Tuesday and we’ll need another big performance on Tuesday.

“There are a lot of fixtures coming up but we’ll get ready for Tuesday, it’s another massive game for us. We had another good session this morning and it’ll be the same tomorrow.

“It is frustrating (training indoors) but at the same time the facilities we’ve been using are incredible. The quality there is incredible. So it doesn’t change our preparation in any shape or form, the same work is just done indoors so it makes no difference to us at all.”
