TOWN v LEYTON ORIENT: A potted history

IF GOALS is what you’re after Brisbane Road is not the place to look for Swindon Town fans, if history is anything to go by.

In 36 trips to Leyton Orient since the Robins first locked horns with their east London rivals in December 1929, Town have mustered just 31 goals. They have failed to find the net on 17 occasions in all. In recent years the record is even worse, as travelling supporters have been lifted onto their feet just six times in the last 14 trips.

Overall, Swindon’s all-time form book at Orient reads played 31, won seven, drawn 11, lost 18, but only two of those victories have come since 1964.

A 7-1 humbling in January 1933 remains Town’s heaviest defeat at Brisbane Road, where the Robins conceded 15 times on their first four visits. It’s been more than four years since Town’s last success in east London, on Boxing Day 2008, when Lee Peacock’s first-minute strike and Jack Smith’s penalty handed the Robins a 2-1 win.

Well it looks like the heavy rain wont reach London until Midnight tonight, forecast is for drizzle and clear spells for much of the day.
