That's it from us at the Adver for this evening, on what has been a turbulent day for Swindon Town.
Thanks to you all for following the day's events with us and for you comments, and please remember to pick up your copy of the paper tomorrow morning for all the latest developments.
We will be back at 8am tomorrow morning for Deadline Day Live, where we are expecting a busy day of transfer activity for Paolo Di Canio and the Robins.
10:38pm
Town have just made this statement:
THE Board of Swindon Town FC are pleased to announce its majority shareholder Andrew Black has today exchanged contracts with a consortium to acquire the Club. Completion of the sale is dependent upon approval from the Football League, which we hope to obtain in the next few days.
Upon completion, most of the Club’s existing debt will be written off, the threat of administration will be avoided and Paolo Di Canio and the squad will be able to concentrate on football and the challenge of making Swindon a Championship club next season.
Chairman Sir William Patey commented: “This is an important day for the Club, with the current owners writing off most of their debts and the new consortium’s funding, the Club has a strong financial base to continue the battle for Championship football. I look forward to updating you with more details as soon the deal receives Football League approval.”
9:38pm
There is still no official word from Swindon Town regarding Matt Ritchie's move this evening, other to confirm it.

We still have no official word from the club.
6:03pm
The Advertiser understands the terms of the takeover at Town would see the money owed to Andrew Black, Sir Martyn Arbib, Andrew Fitton and Jeremy Wray in the club's holding company wiped.
Those debts are believed to total between £9.5million and £10million.
5:20pm
The Advertiser has learnt that Andy Williams is the subject of interest from Bristol City.
5:13pm
The Advertiser understands the prospective new owners of Swindon Town do not want to sell Matt Ritchie, after a £600,000 bid was tabled by the Robins' League One rivals.

The Advertiser understands Gary Madine remains a transfer target of Swindon Town.
It remains unclear, however, whether or not funds will be available to manager Paolo Di Canio to strengthen his squad before tomorrow's 11pm deadline.
3:38pm
While McCrory spent time and money sprucing up Banbury's Spencer Stadium home, he also invested money into revamping the club's squad by bringing in a number of loan players from professional clubs including Reading, Peterborough and Stevenage.

— @thewashbag 30 January 2013
2:24pm
To clarify, should the takeover at Swindon Town receive Football League approval then it is understood all threat of administration would disappear.
2:19pm
Jed McCrory should be able to hold board positions at both Swindon Town and Banbury United until the end of the season.
Special dispensation can be made to allow an individual to have a significant role at two separate clubs, provided they will not meet in FA competitions.
This was the case when former Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton arrived at the County Ground, when he occupied the same position at Hungerford.
Come next season, however, McCrory would be expected not to be fulfilling both roles.
1:42pm
Banbury United fans seem to be concerned about Jed McCrory's interests in Swindon Town, with 'Whiskey' writing on the club's message board:
"If Jed goes, I would imagine it will leave is struggling to pay the wage bill with a large squad just for starters especially with crowds we are currently getting. The team has turned a corner and is playing well lets hope whatever happens we can hang on to most of the current squad."
1:35pm
#STFC being sold sounds interesting. I hope there's money available soon for #DiCanio and for the ground redevelopment. #STFCAdver
— @Rabcnesbit1982 30 January 2013
1:34pm
Today's report in the Daily Mail which suggested Swindon Town's players were all up for sale and that the club was about to be plunged into administration appears to have been the result of an erroneous email.
The Advertiser has learnt that an agent issued the missive, which intimated that every member of the Town squad was available for transfer, last night.
The Adver has also been told that several agents have been claiming to represent players who are not their clients.
1:31pm
Happy and grateful that short-term future of the club is safe. And, to be fair, I think that's as much as we could have hoped for #STFCAdver

Jed McCrory is listed as having 13 active directorships, varying from interests in property and leisure to sports solutions.
He acquired Banbury United in the late summer of last year as part of the Ordicium Ltd bid, where his two partners were Martin King and Perry Deakin.
The Advertiser understands Deakin is not involved in the takeover of Swindon Town.
1:09pm
Rumours linking Worcester Warriors Rugby Club backer Cecil Duckworth to the consortium taking over the club appear to be wide of the mark.
The Adver has learnt the multi-millionaire is currently on holiday in Brazil until the middle of February, meaning he is unlikely to be involved in any negotiations.
1:01pm
Any news on who the others involved in the consortium are? #stfcadver
— @NutsyMalone 30 January 2013
1:00pm
We expect the takeover to be completed this afternoon.
12:59pm
After taking over at Banbury United, Jed McCrory attempted to increase attendances at the club by offering to buy fans drinks.
He told the Banbury Guardian in October: “If we can double the gate of our last home game – 143 – then I will buy the first 286 fans a beer if they come up and introduce themselves to me at the bar in the clubhouse between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
“If we get more than 300 fans then I will buy the first 300 a beer at the following home game and so on. But if we only get 299 then the supporters’ club chairman has to buy me one!”

So, this is what we know so far...
A consortium led by Jed McCrory is believed to be set to take charge of Swindon Town, subject to Football League approval.
McCrory and his partners will take on a large chunk of Andrew Black's 98 per cent shareholding in the club.
The threat of administration will cease as and when the deal is completed, while in the interim the prospective new owners and the current board are understood to be sharing control of the running of the club.
12:41pm
The Advertiser understands a deal has been completed which will see Swindon Town taken over by a consortium led by Banbury United owner Jed McCrory.
After a fortnight of conflicting reports and much anxiety around the County Ground, stability looks to have been secured for the Robins.
We'll keep you up to date with all the latest goings-on right here throughout the afternoon.

Also it would be good to know why Andrew Black has wanted out now, to my mind it would have made sense to announce a sale in November with a view to have new owners in place in time for the January window. This has all been very sudden and an explanation wouldn't go amiss.

Interesting article in the local Banbury rag which reported that he would buy a pint for the first 286 supporters to turn up at Banbury United's next game. This was after 143 turned up to see the previous match. Will he do this at Town ? Could be quite a stampede for the Legends if he does :-) COYMR

They say £900k was paid to the taxman by Fitton and Co - wrong that was the remainder of the CVA!
.
The Taxman was not part of as in those days they were still preferred creditors - we had to settle the £3m tax bill seperately - which formed a major part of the takeover talks
.
They also say £9m of the £13m is owed to the owners - well who has the 0ther £4m then - considering Fitton, Wray and Black have confirnmed nothingis owed outside them and Sir Arbib!
.
BBC have a lot to answer for in all this as Loyal has said - it was them who started the whole thing by printing a fictious report based on one comment

Jeremy Wray - That would be a massive boost.
Andrew Fitton - I wouldn't say no.
Nick Watkins - No problem with him.
Andrew Black - always grateful but would prefer him to sit back and take care of his health - he deserves it!
But most important, the new owners must be open and transparent. The paranoia they would generate by remaining hidden would be hugely disrupting to the club and its fans.

Of course until we get a full statement and the deal is "set in stone" nothing is certain. But I reckon there is cause for genuine optimism. No wonder Black lost a sh1te load of money at STFC with that logic!
.
Ritchie has proven himself (again) in a higher division so his value can only have gone up
.
Plus he has signed an extended deal so that would put his value up
.
Add a 1 in front and that would be about right - if Ritchie has gone for £600k will be very very very p1ssed off!

If the club arent selling why havent we made a statement.
If the club are real about getting into the championship why sell one of your best assetts.
I know a circulation was put around to all clubs at the start of the week about all our players being available but my understanding was that was in case the take over didnt happen.
So why dont we tell bournemouth to clear off again and he is not for sale.
If we sell any of our players in this window i also think Paolo will be off.
I hope the new guys really think long and hard about not selling our assetts it is our best chance this season to get up to the championship and i could see a revolt immediatley if we sold players in this window and especially to a rival L1 team and if Ritchie did go he is better than Bournemouth who are a smaller club than us whos' bubble will burst in a couple of years time once the russian decided to go as it must be remembered it is a loan their money.

What it tells us is they don't want to spend money on paying off old debt but spend it on the future - be it players or redevelopment
.
Also the quicker they can get the shareholder equity positive the quicker they could start generating returns via dividends - which is where the write off comes in as it will practically write out our negative equity which means promotion could lead to profit which could lead to dividends being paid to Black and Co
.
Agree with Wizard - these guys need adding to the hall of fame - or at least have bars or suites named after them in the redeveloped ground
.
Jock - I was saying Martin would be 3rd of 4th choice as BWP would start with either Collins or Madine
.
Lets not forget that it was lucky we have a Premiership quality keeper to make sure we got a point in a game we should have won easily - with Williams the main culprit missing 5 good chances
.
Missing 5 is way way too many and it wasn't a one off - we have seen these chances wasted all year
.
If we are to go up we need these put away so when the others are not firing like they have against the likes of Tranmere etc we pick up wins
.
Cassidy would still be my first choice but as that is not realistic I would be absolutely delighted to see BWP in the team on sat and will be even happier when he has scored!

If what is said is true and we need 1.5mil to last the season why have we reduced what we were initially offered, 600K reduced to £500K thats not buisness sense. So fingers crossed this is just pure speculation and no offer has been accepted, this would fit in with the new owners comment of they dont want him sold.
If they have sold him they need a bloody good reason otherwise they have lost all fringe based fans and the regular pay on the day fans.
As negative as it is if this is the case i dont want to give this new consortium a frigging penny.

I think some of our (PDC fuelled) views on Ritchie's worth are OTT. Personally I do not consider him worth as much as Cox, but £400k is too cheap. But this is what happens when you need cash - and make no mistake, the club needs cash. The past 12 months have been very sapping, hence the sudden change of direction.

I have never been accused of BS before, I have infact told you first hand about Martin (a day before the advertiser even made a comment). The truth is this board haven't been honest with us. How come B'muff can steal Ritchie for 500k when we value him anything up to 2m? bearing in mind that the 500k will probably be in instalments.
Rumours of Bradley W-P & Nadine signing, these guys are on big wages & I'd be very surprised if the wanted to come to us. Has'nt Nadine got a court case pending & BWP had problems to.

Super Reds - having the debt written off doesn't say anything about the wealth of our new majority owners (Black and Co still are involved)
.

The only reason Black would sell Matt for such a low fee is because the take over has fallen through and he wants to get as much cash back before he puts us into administration, the whole team is up for sale, so expect more assets sold off for next to nothing.

OK, I will tell you one thing, A MR F is involved in the C that looks 99% likely to have fallen through at the moment, deal will still be on, it's administration or sell more players! Enough to go through the season and we will starve off Administration.
MR F and new board will now be investing but instead will be making the club stable, so expect a few out, a new manager, a very average pay structure and the club needs to get stable before any push on promotion. now I hope you will all apologise tomorrow when / if the advertiser gets working!
If the deal can be saved tomorrow, it will still mean a lot of players going, too high on the wages, this is a 1st division club, a certain MR F quit because he wasn't happy with Palo plan, he was right, spend spend spend made us in this mess. I love Palo, but buying players and falling out with them as cost us a lot money!
The club will be safe eventually, but it's time to hold on to the roller coaster.
Debts in the club do exist (several) but nothing major and nothing out of control, Administration will be announced unless the C can sort out a few things. Black is preparing for the worse at the moment, and will sell until this is sorted.

It is clear that this club, as it is currently based and where it is located, cannot make a profit. There is absolutely no chance. And one thing that AB understands very well is that, far from a pot of gold, the Championship will simply demand a bigger cheque book from him.

*
LR says £750k is a 'tenth of Fodders value'. Nonsense. That's quite a decent fee. No way is he worth more than £1m.
*
I just hope the sales are not too hasty to get the add-ons and sell-ons in. In time, these deals might not look so bad.
If we are having some sort of desperate fire sale, the Wes deal surely would not work financially? Palace were reported to have secured massive sell on clauses for him, so how would that benefit us please?
I understood your post first time, but my question was about how much we would have to pay Palace if we sell Wes?
I understand that to be a high percentage of such a sale, which substantially reduces the 'profit' to us?

Listen guys, the new owners aren't going to be pumping money in, they are going to settle the club, it's not a quick fix, the club is losing £50,000 a week and that kind of loss has to be addressed one feels no matter who takes over the club.
There was 3 interested parties and the next in line for take over is thousand of miles away from agreeing anywhere near a deal.
This deal would of suited Black and no one else from what i have heard.
There are no millionaires in the line, I have also heard that the club will enter Administration tomorrow afternoon at 2pm unless urgently, this deal can be salvaged, even if the deal is salvaged, players will leave if good or standard offers are made.
PDC in fairness has no alternative to leave, he's on high wages and no one including black wants that to last, plus, Villa will be entitled to pay us compensation so that again is more money in our bank (sorry blacks pocket).

PDC takes a very small wage and the fitness coaching team are NOT expensive, and Black would not be able to sell these players if the sale has gone through as they would no longer be his to sell. What a complete load of tosh.
I have it on good authority that he is on merely a token wage to gain the experience needed and the clue to how much was the £30k he mentioned believe it or not, as he is a multi millionaire he didn't think it right to take a big wage here. That has been endorsed by a few trusted people at the club. No BS. His staff are on average wages for their respective roles, as he would not have that any other way. His view was on joining the big money will come after STFC, which I consider just and fair.
The club have just issued a statement, quite why it has taken them nearly 12 hours to do so, lord knows.
More than enough, time to call it a day. let us all hope tomorrow is a lot brighter than what we are thinking right now.

own have just made this statement:

Tonight has been an emotional nightmare for us as fans and reminds ne of the dark days at the end of the last regime.
The official club statement has at least seen off those that are in the know and given us a crumb of comfort tonight. Lets hope the football league ratify the takeover.
Richie's move is interesting. It may not be what Bournemouth need or want. Arevthey buying Ritchie the right midfielder who scores most of his goals in the first half of the season, if so he will only have limited impact, or arebthey buying the left winger who was not prolific in this role.
Matt is a good player, make no mistake, but he was wanted by the club, not the manager, and itnwill not be the first time a player has disrupted a successful team pattern.
Please can we have some good news tomorrow......

In terms of the things we know are facts, I hope that the new owners will provide a sustainable financial platform for the club to develop. Black's determination to sell is evidence that we have not had that in recent times.
And finally to wish Matt Ritchie all the best for the future. He has been a fantastic player for us, one of the best, if not the best for the past 3 seasons. I hope the club moves on and the rest of the staff, players etc all remain. It would be nice now to go on and get that promotion.

This is all very confusing, Guv saying one thing and then statements from the club. Who do we believe ???
I wasn't going to come on here as I was happy doing something else. It was when my eldest came down and said we had sold Ritche that I logged on.
I have read all the comments and there is one thing that hasn't been mentioned by anyone. When she said about the sale she said it was being reported that because of a letter sent to all Clubs we had to sell our players if we received an offer. I believe someone early on mentioned the letter but not the must sell clause.
It is very sad if this is the case but what is more important is that Swindon Town FC lives on and it is not the time to start abandoning them. We all admired the Pompey fans on New Years Day and in the worst case we should react in the same way.
The next 24 hours could define where we play next season but to me stability at this moment in time is more important than promotion.

To Afcb4life and the other gloating AFCB fans,
enjoy your moment because there are a few on here that will have long memories if your charming Chairman manages to scare away your backer.
Your point about our circular that said all players were for sale is potentially dynamite, in that if that really triggered a 'must sell, subject to offers' situation with Ritchie,Thursday could still end in tears for us all, with several players sold. {Although I have no knowledge of such a 'must sell'}
I, like Don am glad if Portsmouth get a cut from Ritchie's transfer but cannot help feeling that they and we could have got so much more?

If Ritchie is going so be it, there is a club and a team here, not about just one player however good he is. We don't know if and who may replace him - if he is gone!! Lot of AFCB posters winding up so sod em!

I have no idea how things will pan out.
I think Paolo would have walked this evening if the Ritchie sale was behind his back.
I wouldn't be surprised to see BWP or GM or both arrive, or more players leave on the cheap.
Just no idea.
But I honestly can't believe the new consortium would start their reign by selling 3 or 4 of our top players. Why get involved just to reap the wrath of the fans from Day 1.
Bournemouth have had their day today, and good luck to Matt wish him well. Funny how things change -Just a few months ago I remember reading the most spiteful articles and omments on the Echo about Mitchell, Groves, and the financial position, so it's amusing to see how upbeat they after a few wins. Lets see how things pan out for both clubs, presumably their financial position is as safe as houses?

Can't wait to hear some official statements tomorrow, and sincerely hope the subject matter doesn't feature the departure of Paolo or other players.
I'm sure the contents of that circular will be revealed soon, I'm sure there will be someone from another club that will spill the beans.

We have a quality squad, one that is above you in the league and if I were a betting man, would say we will also finish the season above you.

I think they'll be some good news tomorrow and most fans will be really pleased!!!
