Howell finishes tied 30th at Classic

SWINDON'S David Howell finished tied for 30th at the Dubai Desert Classic following a resurgent final round today.

A former champion at the event in 1999, the Broome Manor pro carded par at the Emirates Golf Club yesterday but finished with a three-under round of 69 today, putting him nine-under overall.

After a bogey at the first, Howell pulled himself back to par at the ninth, with further gains following at 10, 12 and 18.

Scotsman Stephen Gallacher won the tournament by three shots on 22-under.
